| Position Summary | This recruitment will be used to fill two (2) part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Entomology/Plant Pathology Technician for the Department of Crop and Soil Science at Oregon State University (OSU). Opportunity to gain valuable research experience in entomology, plant pathology, and pest management in row crops! Research, field, and laboratory work will primarily focus on the spatial distribution and management of noctuid moth pests and aphid vectors of yellow dwarf viruses in western Oregon’s grass seed systems in the Willamette Valley. Hired technicians will gain experience with collecting and organizing field data, conducting field and laboratory research in a professional setting, learning integrated pest management techniques for managing insect pests and plant pathogens, and working alongside federal and academic researchers at the USDA-ARS and OSU. |

| Position Duties | Duties may include: driving to and sampling commercial fields across the Willamette Valley for adult and immature insects, entering data in a mobile collection app, identifying insect specimens using a stereo microscope, assisting researchers with small-plot field trials, and potential for molecular research experience and GIS training if desired. |
