Job Summary | This is an Internal Employment Opportunity. The School of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering is seeking an Operations Manager. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position. This position will collaborate with the School Head to manage the operations of the School of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering (CCE). This includes managing the front office student workers and office specialists; serving as the primary liaison between CCE and human resources for managing appointments; tracking and managing CCE budgets; coordinating operations related to research and education; supporting the Undergraduate Program Coordinator, the Associate Head of Graduate Programs, and the Online Program Coordinator to develop course planning and faculty assignments of CCE courses; and overseeing the management of CCE space including building maintenance and liaising with the College of Engineering Director of Facilities on building remodels. Key Responsibilities | 75% Administrative Operations: Collaborate with School Head to manage CCE with full responsibility for all operations. Serve as liaison for School Head with campus personnel, faculty, staff, alumni, Financial Strategic Services, and off-campus contacts. Coordinate operations related to research, innovative education programs, and outreach. Coordinate and analyze CCE data to support school strategic development and operations (e.g., budget, enrollments). Lead and coordinate the day-to-day operations and non-academic events and activities of the school, oversee long-term, comprehensive projects for the School Head, and instill a strong customer service ethic among all operations. Advise faculty regarding University policies and procedures and serve as a resource regarding personnel and other university administrative issues; collaborate with School Head in confidential matters; authorize purchases and approve invoices; oversee and provide input for school budget; work closely with and inform the School Head on budgetary issues. Support the development and execution of processes related to new business opportunities, research operations, academic operations, scholarship administration, fellowship and award submission, support personnel oversight, faculty recruitment, etc. Work closely with School Head and faculty on personnel recruitment and appointments for the school. Assist faculty with creating position descriptions and job postings. Serve as an HR Contact on matters relating to hiring, pay, benefits, and other employment matters. Coordinate with the office of International Faculty and Student Services to process F-1 OPT, J-1, H1-B visa information, permanent residency cases, and other international policies and procedures to include, courtesy faculty visits, and international graduate student visits. 15% Supervision: Supervisory responsibility for student workers and Office Specialists supporting both general office operations, including preparation of position descriptions and work plans, training, evaluating, recommending pay, promotion and other employment decisions. Acts on disciplinary issues, up to and including dismissal, addresses grievances, developing a framework for corrective actions as necessary. Create an environment within the College of Engineering and OSU Campus that leverages the strengths and accomplishments of staff, promotes synergy and teamwork, and empowers experienced professionals with diverse responsibilities. 5% Facilities Management: Manage CCE space that includes accounting for space allocations and requesting building maintenance. Liaise with COE Director of Facilities to coordinate building remodeling. 5% Other Duties: As assigned by supervisor. |
