Job Summary | The Department of Athletics is seeking a Men’s Assistant Coach & Director of Rowing Operations. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position. he mission of the OSU Department of Athletics is to Go Build Excellent, Authentic, Visionary Student-Athletes (GO B.E.A.V.S.). We will be intentional to recruit and retain individuals of all backgrounds and identities who will positively contribute to the success of our athletics department The Men’s Assistant Coach & Director of Rowing Operations will assist the Director of Rowing in the organization, administration, and promotion of all aspects of the Oregon State Men & Women’s Rowing Programs. Coaching includes instruction, academic supervision of the athletes, program management for the specific area assigned and preparation of recommendations to the Director of Rowing and Director of Athletics. This position will adhere to the policies set forth by direct supervisors, Director of Rowing and Athletic Director, as well as Oregon State University, the PAC-12 Conference and The National Collegiate Athletic Association. |

Key Responsibilities | 25% Coaching – Conducts, and evaluates practice sessions, as directed. Teaches individuals and groups of athletes specific tasks and skills before, during and after practice, during season and off-season. Teaches all aspects of Rowing skills as requested. Teaches progressions and drills during daily practice time. Is available to coaches and players before, during and after practices, races, and events. Scouts future opponents by film, watching races, and/or telephone reports. Retrieves video tapes of future opponents. Develops scouting reports on future opponents. Provide consultation and expert advice to Head Coach and team members. Will run or oversee our Novice Walk-on program, including on-campus recruitment, and teaching the intro to rowing. 35% Travel – Develop in consultation with the Director of Rowing and coaching staff and communicate the travel calendar to coaching staff and student-athletes. Arrange team travel for away competitions. Plan transportation, lodging, food for all travel for both the men’s and women’s teams. Driving is required for the person in this role, which requires the employee to maintain a current, valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record. 15% Events & Fundraising – In consultation with the Director of Rowing lead the event planning of engagement events and fundraising events. Events include but are not limited to Orange and Black Regatta, Spring Launch Dinner, and alumni gatherings. Assist with Dam Proud Day, annual university wide fundraising. 5% Regatta Management – Organize home regattas in coordination with coaching staff and boatman/rigger. Plan travel of launches, referee coordination, volunteer coordination, and regatta packet for visiting teams. 5% Recruiting/Compliance – Assist men’s coaching staff with logistics around official visits and ensure necessary paperwork is cleared through compliance. 10% Camps – Plan rowing camps in consultation with the Director of Rowing. Organize website, track registration, and help to create a camp experience that is safe and enjoyable. 5% As assigned – Other duties as assigned by the Director of Rowing. |

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months. This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030. |
