Position Summary
This recruitment will be used to fill up to two part-time (maximum of 24 hours per week) Student Services student positions for the College of Forestry Student Services Office at Oregon State University.

The student staff role is administrative support and front desk reception. The positions focus is creating a welcoming environment, providing prompt communications to students, supporting office staff, and maintaining smooth day-to-day operations.

Position Duties
  • Serve as the first point of contact for visitors.
  • Respond to in-person, email, and phone inquiries.
  • Maintain office operations and ensure general office cleanliness.
  • Update College of Forestry Jobs page.
  • Update College of Forestry Fernhopper WordPress newsletter.
  • Facilitate Photo of the Week contest.
  • Check-in students for Advising appointments.
  • Special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
  • Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
  • Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
    • High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
    • Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
    • Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
    • Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
    • Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
Additional Required Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled as a full-time undergraduate or post-baccalaureate student at Oregon State University.
  • Must have completed at least one academic term at Oregon State University.
  • May require successful completion of the OSU Motor Pool Driver Authorization Form and Van Safety Training.
  • Demonstrated excellence in customer service.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with a high level of confidentiality.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Skilled in multi-tasking and effective time management.
  • Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Proactive with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Reliable and dependable with a consistent work ethic.
Preferred (Special) Qualifications
  • Proficient in or willing to learn how to operate a multi-line phone system, including placing callers on hold and transferring calls.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
  • Proficient or experienced using WordPress and other web-based forms.
  • Experience designing marketing flyers and posters to promote events and student opportunities.
  • Enrolled in a College of Forestry major
Working Conditions / Work Schedule
Flexibility in work scheduled is preferred. Shifts will be split between all student staff to try and cover as many regular office hours as possible. Typically, student staff work 10-15 hours per week, with a maximum of 24 hours allowed (split between all campus positions). Student Services is open Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm (excluding holidays), with limited opportunities for after-hours events. Occasional work during breaks (winter, spring, summer) is available. Schedules vary from term to term, depending on class schedules and availability, and are coordinated with fellow student staff.
