Position Summary
This recruitment will be used to fill one (1) part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Screen Printing Technician for the Craft Center at Oregon State University (OSU).

The OSU Craft Center is a warm & welcoming place that supports and promotes creative endeavors in the arts by providing a dynamic environment, resources and programs in which people can foster their own creativity. The Craft Center provides a space for students to socialize, unwind, think creatively and experience material-based learning in a noncompetitive environment. It also gives support to other departments by providing programs, space and equipment as needed.

The OSU Craft Center is looking for a self-motivated student to be our print studio tech with the potential for teaching screen printing classes. In this position, you will join the Craft Center team in helping students meet their creative needs by making sure that the studio is kept functional and assisting students and/or groups. Instructors will emulate and abide by Student Experiences and Engagement mission, goals, and program focus. This is a part-time position (starting at 8-10 hrs week).

Position Duties
• Maintain shared screen printing and printmaking studio space, including tools, equipment, and materials.
• Report any issues with equipment/tools/materials to admin and instructors.
• Provide orientations to students on studio use.
• Reclaim screens.
• Assist with screen printing events.
• Inventory supplies and let admin know when materials need to be restocked.
• Assist students with use of the facility.
• Attend required meetings/trainings
• Other tasks as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
  • Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
  • Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
    • High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
    • Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
    • Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
    • Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
    • Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
Additional Required Qualifications
• Working knowledge of all steps of screen-printing process.
• Ability to keep a shared studio organized.
• Must be a currently enrolled student, at least half time, at Oregon State University.
• Must be in good academic standing for the term prior to selection.
• Must have demonstrated ability/willingness to work effectively in a team.
• Must be available to work evenings and weekends as needed.
• Good communication habits, i.e. answering emails promptly, returning texts/calls, etc.
Preferred (Special) Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of etching press and lino printing.
