Basic Purpose
Responsible for the establishment and implementation of business objectives, strategies, budgets and plans for vegetation management under the direction of the Director, Natural Disaster Protection Program Execution to meet corporate performance goals, compliance requirements and customer service goals.

Essential Education, Skills, and Environment
Education and Work Experience
Bachelor’s degree in business, natural resources, engineering, or related field from an accredited school and 6 years of related experience with at least one year in a management or supervisory role.

Candidates that do not possess a bachelor’s degree must have a minimum of 10 years of related work experience with at least 5 years in a management or supervisory role.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills
Demonstrated knowledge of:

  • Vegetation management standards and practices, utility operations, contract and administration and customer service

Demonstrated skills such as:

  • Critical thinking, analytical, decision-making and project management to optimize resources and achieve consistent, high quality results
  • Communicate both verbally and when writing with a diverse group of internal and customer contacts.

Equipment and Applications
PCs, word processing, spreadsheet and database software.

Work Environment and Physical Demands
General office environment. No special physical demands required.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for the resource plan, assignment and review of vegetation management contractors with a large number of key field service personnel for the clearance of vegetation from overhead electric conductors.

  • Ensures contractors meet all safety, environmental and productivity standard are met.
  • Leads development, approval and administration of vegetation management work plans, public safety outage management, and emergency response activities to ensure programs result in cost effective operations with high levels of system reliability and customer service.
  • Establishes business relationships with internal and external stakeholders (company liaison) to develop a common risk-based perspective and plan for vegetation management.
  • Encourages and enables various continuous improvement and change management activities, including further leveraging technology and data analytics to improve bottom line metrics in capital and operating costs, reliability, customer satisfaction and safety.
  • Ensures that all vegetation management activities are in compliance with all policies and regulations including NERC, FERC and PUCN. Ensures that Vegetation Management programs are completed accurately, as scheduled, properly inspected and recorded.
  • Negotiates and administers both long- and short-term contracts for services.
  • Identifies innovative contract provisions to reduce risk to the company or reduce cost.
  • Monitors and enforces all compliance requirements for area of responsibility.
  • Ensures all compliance aspects of position are known and followed; understands and complies with all policies, codes and regulations applicable to position and company.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
