Job Title: Park Aide
Position Status: The Salish Foothills area is seeking to recruit for two (2) permanent Park Aide positions located at:
Location: Skamania, WA
Closes: April 24th, 2026, at 5 p.m. PST. Park housing is not available for this position.
Camano Island State Park - (located in Island County) is a 244-acre camping park with 6,700 feet of rocky shoreline and beach located an hour from Seattle on beautiful Camano Island. Close to Seattle but a world away, Camano Island State Park offers a mellow, less bustling, but equally friendly alternative to its busier neighbor, Cama Beach State Park. Forest loop trails provide cool, tranquil hiking, while shoreline strolls offer birding, shell and rock exploration and sweeping views of the Puget Sound, Olympic Mountains and Mount Rainier.
Rasar State Park - (located in Skagit County) is a 169-acre camping park with 4,000 feet of freshwater shoreline on the Skagit River. Wildlife observation opportunities, especially for eagle watching, are excellent, particularly in early fall and early winter. The park offers playground equipment for kids. There are second-growth trees and ample opportunities for nature study.
These positions are not eligible to telework, as physical on-site presence is required to perform essential functions.
Under the direct supervision of the Park Ranger 1, this position performs a variety of responsibilities that include routine facility cleaning and maintenance, grounds keeping tasks, equipment maintenance, and customer service duties in the park. This Senior Park Aide directly supports day-to-day and long-term operations for Salish Foothills Area. Duties

Duties include but are not limited to:
Assists Park Rangers in maintaining all facilities in a condition that is operationally functional, clean, and safe for the public and staff:- Assists in maintaining facilities, cabins, structures, restrooms, park grounds, vehicles, equipment, tools, campsites, picnic sites, BBQs, firepits, trails, fences, roads, and parking lots to Agency standards.
- Cleans and disinfects all publicly used facilities such as restrooms, CXTs, cabins, day-use shelters, event centers, welcome centers, and registration stations according to Agency standards and park cleaning schedules; restocks supplies.
- Performs regular trash collection, litter pick-up, and garbage disposal' hauls garbage with Park pickup truck.
- Maintains Park grounds using a mower, weed eaters, trimmers, brush cutters, this includes raking leaves, pruning shrubs, weeding flower beds; removes and reports noxious weeds according to the parks noxious weeds removal plan.
- Provides information to guests and visitors regarding park rules and regulations, local events, activities, interpretive programs, and historic information.
- Assists guests who are checking into cabins, campsites, and day-use facilities.
- Completes all reports on time, including timesheets, WEX/VUR reports, vehicle inspections, etc.
- Ensures all safety parameters are being met and followed' participates in safety meetings; completes all incident reports within the 24-hour reporting period.
- Completes all required and recommended training.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be a minimum of 17 years old.
- Possess a valid, unrestricted driver's license (except corrective lenses).
DESIRED QUALIFICATION:
- First aid and CPR certification

Safety Consciousness:- The ability to follow strict safety protocols, identify infrastructure hazards, and participate in mandatory training like First Aid and defensive driving to protect both themselves and the public, is paramount in a park setting.
- Since the role involves guest interaction, the ability to provide clear information on rules, local history, and reservation assistance with a helpful and professional demeanor is critical.
- Working in the Salish Foothills involves diverse tasks (from brush cutting to visitor booth hours) in various outdoor conditions. The candidate must be flexible and capable of transitioning between labor-intensive outdoor work and indoor customer service.
- Someone who takes pride in Agency standards — ensuring restrooms are disinfected, supplies are restocked, and grounds are maintained.
- The candidate needs to be comfortable operating and maintaining a variety of equipment, including mowers, weed eaters, brush cutters, and park vehicles.

Requirements:
Uniform Information: All permanent Park Aides are required to wear a uniform. A complete and properly worn uniform helps establish the professional identity of a Park Aide and promotes respect as a Washington State Parks employee. All permanent Park Aides will receive 2 shirts, 1 baseball cap, and a clothing stipend of $75.00 per calendar year. Some positions may qualify for a $150 clothing stipend depending on the length of the position. Clothing stipends are intended to offset the cost of clothing worn in the workplace such as pants, boots, raingear, etc.
Working Conditions: Positions works five (5) days a week; Core work hours for Camano Island State Park are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday - Saturday, core work hours for Rasar State Park has a flexible morning start time Saturday - Wednesday but is subject to supervisory approval. Work schedule varies and often requires weekend work. Incumbents may be expected to adjust the work scheduled to meet business needs. Incumbent is expected to maintain regular and reliable attendance to accommodate office and customer demands. Travel and overnight travel may be required periodically between parks and/or statewide for meetings, training, and other field work. Travel will be necessary in all types of weather conditions and climates.How to apply:
