Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Policy Research and Analysis:
- Research wildfire-related laws, environmental regulations, pending legislation, and federal budget/appropriations documents at the federal and state levels.
- Track legislative and executive developments, attend hearings, and summarize key takeaways for the team and external stakeholders.
- Conduct research to support advocacy efforts and policy briefs at the Federal and state levels.
Advocacy and Mobilization:
- Support the development of Megafire Action's mobilization efforts, including aligning with others to create briefs and memos that raise awareness and foster alignment across wildfire issues and opportunities.
- Collaborate with the broader team and communications staff to create messaging and materials supporting policy and funding initiatives.
- Represent Megafire Action in meetings and other forums to advocate for our policy priorities.
- Support coalition-building efforts by coordinating meetings with legislative staff, advocacy partners, and governmental agencies.
Qualifications:
- Experience on Capitol Hill, with policy think tanks, government, or other relevant background.
- Bachelors/Masters in Public Policy, Government, Environmental Policy, Forestry, or Legislative Affairs is ideal.

- Knowing when to ask for help – while official government actions are slow, the day-to-day at Megafire Action moves fast. A willingness to learn and flex to change and organizational style & sentiment is a must.
