Heavy Equipment Mechanic
In this position you will be a member of Markit!’s Fleet Management team and you will report to the Fleet Manager.
Location: Headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colorado; projects may be located throughout the state of Colorado and surrounding states.
Travel: 80%
Duties: The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will perform scheduled and0 unscheduled maintenance, preventative maintenance and repairs on a wide variety of industrial and small engine equipment to facilitate the forestry operations of Markit! Forestry Management LLC ("Markit!"). Maintenance and repairs will happen frequently on site in high elevations and in adverse weather conditions. Work is completed year round.
This position requires knowledge of maintenance, trouble-shooting and solving complex maintenance issues. The primary responsibilities of the position are:
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance in accordance with applicable Original Equipment Manufacturers technical manuals.
- Perform repairs on inoperable equipment.
- Perform repairs in one or more areas in accordance with service manuals and manufacturers specifications.
- Equipment includes Bobcat and ASV Loaders, Industrial Tractors, Delimbers, Skidders, Chippers, Log Loaders, Harvesters, Graders, Dozers, Grinders, Excavators, Generators, Pressure Washers, attachments, trucks and trailers.
- Perform fabrication of hydraulic hoses.
- Order parts by using manuals and catalogs.
- Equipment transport and washing.
Required Skills
- Speak, read and write English.
- Ability to utilize a cell phone, tablet and/or laptop to record equipment maintenance and repairs.
- Willing to train in other skilled areas.
- Able to work any shift including weekends if required.
- Able to travel on short notice, some overnight travel may be required.
- Able to understand and comply with all parts ordering and issuing procedures.
- Able to work in adverse weather conditions, and austere environments.
- Able to lift 100 lbs. occasionally and 50 lbs. frequently.
- Must demonstrate knowledge and ability to use precision measuring and testing equipment.
- Must be able to effectively troubleshoot and solve complex maintenance issues.
