GeoSearch is seeking an experienced and motivated Survey Party Chief to join our client's dynamic team. The ideal candidate will lead field survey crews, manage day-to-day operations, and ensure that all surveying activities are performed accurately and efficiently. This role requires a strong leader with excellent technical skills and a passion for mentoring others.

Up to 75% local travel required during busy seasons.

Qualifications:

  • Direct and oversee field survey teams in various types of surveys, including boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, and control surveys.
  • Ensure all field activities are conducted safely and in compliance with company policies and state regulations.
  • Plan and conduct field survey assignments using GPS, total stations, and other surveying instruments.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret survey data for use in engineering and construction projects.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed field notes, sketches, and reports.
  • Utilize CAD software to process survey data and produce maps and drawings.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to understand project requirements and timelines.
  • Communicate progress updates and address any issues or discrepancies promptly.
  • Ensure all surveying equipment is properly maintained and calibrated.
  • Manage inventory of survey supplies and equipment.
  • Mentor and train junior survey staff in surveying techniques and equipment use.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the team.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with 3D laser scanning and drones preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of land surveying experience.
  • At least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role as a Party Chief.
  • Proficient in operating GPS receivers, total stations, data collectors, and other surveying equipment.
  • Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, ORD) and data processing applications.
  • Strong understanding of surveying principles, methods, and legal requirements.
  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and terrains.
