Who We Are Seeking
Frontera is seeking an experienced and innovative Forest Professional or Forester/Forest Technician In Training to join our company as a Project Lead in our Prescriptions & Operations Department. This position will fill a key role leading projects within the Department, which takes on projects such as fuel management prescriptions (FMPs), cultural and prescribed burn plans, fuel treatment operational supervision, and post-treatment assessments.
Project leads will be accountable for each project they manage, ensuring independent oversight and management of project timelines, budgets, and work quality. This position is also the main point of contact for the project client, so client management is an important component of the work. Project Leads will manage the technicians who work on and support their projects. Responsibilities of this position include:
● Tracking projects’ budgets and timelines,
● Using Frontera’s project management software,
● Ensuring quality of work and timeliness of work tasks and project milestones,
● Completion of deliverables,
● Field work planning and execution, and
● Checking in with their Department Head and working as a team member within their Department.
Project Leads are expected to lead the field work for their projects and should plan to spend at least one week per month in the field during the summer field season.
This is an exciting opportunity to help grow and develop an important department within our business. We are seeking a motivated individual who has a track record of working well on teams and possesses strong consulting skills. We outline details on the type of skillsets we are looking for below.
Required Qualifications:
● 2 or more years of forestry experience in wildland fire and fuel management
● Strong project management skills
● Strong written and verbal communication skills
● Proven track record of leading teams
● Experience in forestry data collection and report writing
● Proven track record of successful relationship building with forestry clients
● Registered with FPBC or eligible for registration
● Possesses a valid BC drivers licence
● Eligible to work in Canada.
Preferred Qualifications:
● Experience with working for Indigenous communities or companies
● Experience in developing and submitting data into RESULTS
● Proficiency in GIS and geoprocessing
● Proficiency in data analysis
● Proficiency in tracking projects and using integrated project management software.
This is a full-time permanent position based in North Vancouver. We are open to remote work. We offer competitive compensation packages and commit to salary increases for positive performance.
