Specialist, Apprenticeship Retention

100% Remote within California, Must reside in California

We are seeking a Specialist, Apprenticeship Retention to join FoundationCCC in its mission of benefiting, supporting, and enhancing the California Community Colleges—the largest and most diverse system of higher education in the nation. The Foundation's Collaborative Impact Department, through the LAUNCH Apprenticeship Network, seeks a Specialist, Apprenticeship Retention to play a critical role in the department's success by serving as a critical bridge between apprenticeship candidates, community colleges, and community-based organizations across the Inland Empire. This hybrid role is designed to address the gap between the large number of students expressing interest in apprenticeships and the smaller number successfully registered and retained in programs.

What You’ll Do

The Specialist will guide candidates through the intake process, assess their barriers to success, connect them to available community college and community-based resources, and ensure they have the support needed to remain on the apprenticeship pathway. By strengthening connections to resources such as childcare, tutoring, mentorship, and financial supports, this role will help boost apprenticeship registration and retention.

  • Oversee the apprenticeship intake process, evaluating new candidate interest forms, working with staff to schedule and conduct intake appointments, developing individualized apprenticeship success plans, troubleshooting and streamlining the process, and more.

  • With the Apprentice Success Coaches, develop mechanisms to connect and coordinate community college and community- based resources, including childcare, tutoring, mentorship, soft skills development, and career counseling-for apprentices

  • Report on trends, barriers, and success stories to inform program improvement and grant reporting.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with community college student services departments, such as Admissions, Counseling, Career Services, Financial Aid, Disabled Student Programs and Services (DSPS), Extended Opportunities Programs and Service (EOPS), and more.

Attributes for Success

  • Relevant BA/BS, equivalent work experience, or a combination of both.

  • Minimum of three (3) + years of related work experience in workforce development, apprenticeship/ pre-apprenticeship, higher education.

  • Practices ownership, takes accountability, and has the ability to manage own work, prioritize tasks, and deliver quality products on time with limited supervision.

  • Innovation, creativity, collaboration, and entrepreneurship are encouraged as employees work to achieve organizational goals
