Urban Forestry Inventory Arborist | Nationwide

Location: Candidates may be based anywhere in the United States.
As part of Eocene’s Forestry and Utility Division’s Urban Forestry team, you will help provide a comprehensive suite of urban forest management services to clients, such as tree inventories, canopy assessments, and written plans. This role is primarily focused on tree inventories, with opportunities to learn and participate in other project elements. We are seeking candidates with experience in
arboriculture, urban forestry, and advanced tree identification. The job requires extensive travel throughout the country, staying in hotels and Airbnbs. The candidate should be detail oriented, able to meet tight deadlines, work outside in adverse weather conditions, and work a 60-hour week (Monday-Saturday) when on assignment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCITONS:
- Collect individual tree locations with an iPad using data collection applications
- Identify a variety of tree species and assess trees for attributes such as condition, size, risk, and maintenance
- Perform data quality control checks through the data collection software and spreadsheets
- Consistently and clearly communicate with other inventory arborists, the project manager ,and the client
- Ability to meet production goals while maintaining a high level of data accuracy
- Ability to travel and be onsite for projects 4-6 weeks at a time. Travel to and from assignment locations is paid; however, time at home between project assignments is unpaid.
- Work independently in parks, along streets, and other places as assigned including in city, rural, and remote areas.

- Performs other related duties as required or assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
- Tree species identification skills
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record
- Ability to work independently and safely
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills are a priority
- Ability to work outdoors in rugged terrain and inclement weather, often hiking up to eight miles per day
- Proficient in map navigation skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office and data collection software (GIS experience is a plus)
- Travel will be required from 75-100% of the time
- Degree in Urban Forestry, Horticulture, Environmental Science, Forestry, and/or related fields and credentials
- Current ISA Arborist Certification, or ability to attain within 6 months
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE:
- Experience working in arboriculture operations, production, or sales
- Experience working with federal, state, and/or tribal urban & community forestry
- Hold or ability to earn ISA credentials (e.g. TRAQ, Municipal Specialist, BCMA)
- Experience using a variety of data collection applications in the field
