The strongly preferred location for this position is the Duke Energy Plaza, Charlotte, NC however, the manager may consider other locations within the Duke Energy Territory.
This position manages the discipline engineers. Discipline Engineers are accountable for intrusive oversight of engineering contractors to assure that the appropriate technical rigor is applied to the engineering products in their discipline. This is accomplished by review of the engineering documents for quality, site and factory visits to assure that the product delivered meets contract requirements, participation in model reviews and resolution of requests for information.
Responsibilities
Support and direction of the Discipline Engineering Staff
Assign work and set priorities
Mentor and develop the staff
Set and enforce standards and expectations for staff performance
Provide input and assist staff working through technical issues
Input and decision making on complex technical issues
Provide basis and logic for technical decisions
Assist less experienced staff working through technical challenges
Troubleshooting/problem solving for Engineering issues arising during construction, commissioning or warranty period
Basic/Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Engineering (ABET) AND 10 plus years work related experience.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Broad knowledge of power plant design, construction and commissioning for Combined Cycle and/or Renewables power plants.
Knowledge in power plant digital control systems, including engineering and design of logic, graphics development, alarm management, etc.
Strong communication skills, leadership experience, attention to detail, rigorous decision making, employee development skills.
Experience leading dynamic teams both is office and field environments.
