Essential Job Functions
-
- Coordinates the procurement of on-road automotive equipment (e.g., utility vehicles, heavy construction equipment), off-road equipment (e.g., excavators, bulldozers, loaders, cranes, trailers, trailered equipment), and electronic devices, if applicable.
- Coordinates and reviews shop maintenance and repair activities for on-road and off-road equipment.
- Inspects on-road and off-road equipment.
- Prepares and maintains a variety of financial documents (e.g. equipment budget reports, cost analysis reports, inventory records, cost estimates) by assisting supervisors in writing specifications for equipment to be purchased or modified, etc.
- Tracks the status of long-term on-road and off-road loaner equipment.
- Arranges for the rental of on-road automotive equipment and off-road equipment.
Requirements
REQUIREMENTS TO QUALIFY:
Option I: Two years of technical experience in the procurement*, inspection, or assignment** of automotive and heavy construction equipment.
Option II: Two years of experience in the supervision of the maintenance and repair or operation of automotive and heavy construction equipment.
*Technical experience in procurement is defined as assessing and purchasing the working components of automotive and heavy construction equipment, including making recommendations for purchase orders and inputting written descriptions of the purchase.
**Technical experience in the inspection or assignment of automotive and heavy construction equipment is defined as performing physical inspections of automotive and heavy construction equipment, including visually inspecting and documenting the technical terms and information related the inspection or assignment.
LICENSE:
A valid California Class "C" Driver License is required at the time of hire to perform job-related essential functions.
LICENSE INFORMATION:
Successful applicants for positions that require driving must obtain and present a copy of their driving record from the California State Department of Motor Vehicles before final appointment. Applicants should not present a copy of their driving history until asked to do so by the hiring department. The County will make an individualized assessment of whether an applicant's driving history has a direct or adverse relationship with the specific duties of the job. License must not be currently suspended, restricted, or revoked.
PHYSICAL CLASS:
Physical Class II – Light: This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.Additional Information

MULTIPLE CHOICE AND/OR SIMULATION ASSESSMENT(S) ARE NOT REVIEWABLE BY CANDIDATES PER CIVIL SERVICE RULE 7.19.
Applicants must meet the requirements and achieve a passing score of 70% or higher on the examination in order to be placed on the eligible list.

Candidates who passed the assessment(s) are placed on a list in the order of their score group for a period of twelve (12) months. We will use this list to fill vacancies as they occur.
