Job Description

The Colorado State University School of Music, Theatre, and Dance is seeking a Costume Technician with professional experience in theatre, opera, and/or dance. The Costume Technician works with the Costume Shop Manager and Assistant Costume Shop Manager to execute the needs of productions.

Essential Job Duties

  • Supervises costume students and student assistants in all costume areas including, but not limited to workroom, crafts, dyeing, wardrobe, hair and makeup application and costume storage.

  • Assists in overseeing the completion of all costume elements for all Music, Theatre, & Dance productions including, but not limited to costumes that are made-to-order, purchased, modified, rented and/or pulled.

  • Attends rehearsals, dress rehearsals, design/production meetings, and read-thru’s as needed (may be in the evenings and/or weekends).

  • Make purchases on an institutional P-Card and follow all related financial rules, protocols for submission of receipts via Kuali, and maintain appropriate records for budgeting.

Supervision

  • Supervises, provides training and mentors student designers and work study students in crafts, makeup, and hair/wigs for the costume production process.

Required Job Qualifications

  • BA /BFA in Costume Design and/or Technology OR a BA/ BFA in Dance or Theatre with demonstrated experience in costume design/technology.

  • Experience with Tailoring, Millinery and/or Dancewear.

  • Experience in costume crafts and fabrication.

  • Experience working in an education setting.

  • Experience working with Dance Costumes.

Conditions of Employment

  • This position requires some evening and weekend work.

Salary Range

$48,000-$50,000
