Job Description

Position Summary

The Department of Marketing in the College of Business at Colorado State University invites applications for a 9-month appointment as Director of the Sales Center and Instructor of Marketing. This is a full-time 9-month non-tenure track appointment with benefits at the Instructor rank. This position is eligible for 1 month summer support. The teaching load for this position is six courses, to be determined by the Department chair, which includes a 2 course release for administrative duties as Director of the Sales Center.

Essential Job Duties

  • Teach courses and design learning activities that support student success.

  • Develop and maintain course materials, assessments, and records.

  • Provide guidance, feedback, and support to students while contributing to departmental goals.

  • Provide strategic leadership for the Sales Center, defining vision, priorities, and initiatives that elevate the Center’s academic, professional, and regional impact within the College of Business and the University.

  • Deliver undergraduate and graduate instruction in sales and related business disciplines, including courses in the Business minor and potentially MBA programs, through in-person, evening, and online formats to meet College instructional needs.

  • Design, coordinate, and execute all aspects of course delivery, including syllabus development, lectures, assignments, assessments, student advising, and final grade submission, ensuring consistency across multiple sections and instructors when applicable.

  • Develop and sustain corporate, alumni, and donor partnerships, securing financial and in-kind support through sponsorships, fundraising events, and relationship cultivation to ensure the Center’s long-term sustainability.

  • Guide the Sales Center toward national accreditation, including alignment with University Sales Center Alliance standards, documentation, and continuous improvement efforts.

  • Oversee student engagement and professional development initiatives, including sales competitions, student organizations, workshops, and experiential learning opportunities, in collaboration with faculty and external partners.

  • Represent the Sales Center internally and externally, managing Center events, serving as the primary liaison to industry and community stakeholders, and advancing the Center’s visibility and reputation; perform other related duties as assigned.

Supervision

  • 1 full-time AP employee, the Sales Center Coordinator

Conditions of Employment

  • Occasional travel associated with center-related activities such as student competitions, corporate partner relationship development and maintenance, etc.

  • Pre-employment Criminal Background Check (required for new hires)

  • The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States by the proposed start date; the Marketing Department will not sponsor a visa for this position now nor in the future.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in business, marketing, sales, or a related field.

  • Evidence of effective teaching at the college/university level or strong potential for success in the classroom.

  • Experience in fundraising, donor/alumni relations, or building corporate partnerships.

  • Experience with strategic planning, program development, event management, or leading strategic initiatives in higher education or industry.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, flexibility, and collegiality are essential.

  • Ability to effectively coordinate with other faculty members and contribute to improving the content and delivery of the departmental courses is also required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Potential for superior teaching, in sales and marketing

  • Professional experience in sales, sales management; or business development.

  • Ability to meet and maintain AACSB academic qualification criteria

  • Demonstrated ability and success in outreach activities with alumni, friends, donors, corporations and organizations

  • Administrative experience managing and overseeing a program, center, or institute in higher education

Salary Range

9-month faculty salary of $70,000 to $77,000 (instructor rank); and while assuming Sales Director responsibilities in this role: a 2-course release; 1 month summer compensation, and a $20,000 administrative stipend.
