Position Summary
The Career Education Coordinator (CEC) is a half‑time, year‑round position shared by the Career Center and academic college that supports the Career Education Manager in delivering career education across a designated college. This position will serve students through in‑person and virtual formats. The CEC will advise students in one‑on‑one advising appointments and drop‑in services to develop and explore career‑related topics to undergraduate and graduate classes, and develop and execute specialized career education initiatives for students from diverse backgrounds.
This half‑time position is 20 hours per week and includes prorated, half‑time benefits. This is a permanent, 12‑month role. Hours may vary during a few select weeks. This person will not work on university‑observed holidays. This is an in‑person position with some remote workdays possible. There will be no relocation assistance for this position.
The Career Center provides campus‑wide career advising, employer engagement, and student development services, helping students explore opportunities that align with their goals, values, and identities. The College of Natural Sciences advances foundational scientific education and research across eight departments and multiple centers, serving thousands of students through a commitment to inclusiveness, integrity, and academic excellence.
Essential Job Duties
Provide holistic one‑on‑one career advising (appointments, drop‑ins, and event‑based) on major/career exploration, job and internship search skills, graduate school preparation, and career development for various student populations.
Design, deliver, and improve career education programming—including classroom presentations, specialized workshops, NSCI 193 instruction, and resource development.
Collaborate across campus and the College of Natural Sciences by building relationships with advisors, student organizations, learning communities, and campus partners to support student success.
Maintain strong knowledge of student needs, employer/industry trends, and CSU resources through ongoing professional development, evaluation of career resources, and partnership with the Employer Connections Team.
Support Career Center and College initiatives and events, including Career Fairs, Resume Rush, CNS employer events, advising meetings, and regular staff team meetings.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
Direct experience working in student success initiatives (minimum one year of full‑time experience, or two years of part‑time experience)
Reflecting departmental and institutional values, candidates are expected to have the ability to advance the Career Center’s commitment to student success
Preferred Job Qualifications
Direct experience in a higher education career services environment (experience as a graduate student is acceptable)
Demonstrated experience working with a breadth of student populations
Proven ability to communicate effectively (orally and in writing) to both small and large audiences
Basic knowledge of career assessment instruments (such as MBTI, Strong Interest Inventory, Strengths Finder, etc.)
Current knowledge of college‑related industries for student and career development
Experience and comfort working with a wide variety of technology platforms
Ability to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment
Salary Range
