Description of Work Unit | The Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands (CEMML) is a research, education and service unit within the Warner College of Natural Resources at CSU. CEMML applies the latest and most appropriate science to promote the sustainable management of natural and cultural resources on Department of Defense (DOD) and other public lands. We provide technical support, conduct applied research, and offer career development and learning opportunities to support resource stewardship. We collaborate with our sponsors and within CSU to resolve complex environmental issues, leaving a legacy of science-based decisions that sustain our resources for future generations. Position Summary | Operate light equipment such as: agricultural tractors, mowers, straw blowers, hydro-seeders, and skid-steers. Use hand tools such as: shovels, root rakes, pick axes, brush axes, and chainsaws. Equipment operation and hand tool utilization is for the purpose of completing LRAM projects. Primary functions are soil stabilization and vegetation management on Army lands. This position will also require tracking and preparing monthly and quarterly reports. |

Essential Duties
Job Duty Category | Light equipment operation and hand tool utilization for the purpose of completing assigned LRAM project execution tasks. |

Duty/Responsibility | Execute Day to Day Light Equipment Operation and Hand Tool Tasks to complete LRAM projects. Equipment operated includes, but is not limited to: agricultural tractors (with PTO driven attachments), mowers, straw blowers, hydro-seeders, and skid-steers (with and without rotary head mulching attachment) Hand tools used, but not limited to: shovels, root rakes, pick axes, brush axes, and chainsaws. Equipment operation and hand tool utilization is for the purpose of completing LRAM projects. Conclusions will need to be reached on what type of equipment is most appropriate for the job and how best to deliver the equipment to the job sight. LRAM tasks will entail conducting activities to execute repair, maintenance, and reconfiguration projects in support of Army training missions. The two primary functions LRAM uses to repair, maintain and reconfigure training lands is vegetation management and soil stabilization treatments.
