Description of Work Unit | The Career Center is part of the Division of Student Affairs with strong and broad-reaching relationships and responsibilities throughout campus, including the academic colleges. Divided into three units (Career Education; Employer Relations; and Operations), the Career Center not only provides career-related-advising and -services to students, it fills many additional functions critical to the success of the university and students, including, but not limited to, campus-wide career fair coordination and job/internship postings, employer relations, institutional career outcome reporting, and student employee development leadership. The Career Center is responsible to a variety of internal and external stakeholders and leverages those relationships to help students investigate the many available professional opportunities with special consideration for finding paths that meet their skills, goals, values, and unique backgrounds. Warner College of Natural Resources (WCNR) is comprised of five academic departments, with a focus on earth systems and the sustainable use, management, and stewardship of natural resources and the environment. The college is deeply committed to fulfilling the University’s land grant promise of access, and through that effort, playing a significant role in diversifying the fields of natural resources. Enrolling approximately 2,400 total students and in existence for more than a century, WCNR has fostered a tight-knit, passionate sense of community among its dedicated students, faculty, and staff; that spirit of community is integral to the College’s culture and success. |
Position Summary | The Career Education Coordinator (CEC) for Warner College of Natural Resources is a half-time, year-round position shared by the Career Center and WCNR that supports the Career Education Manager in delivering career education initiatives to students. This position will serve students through in-person and virtual formats. The CEC will advise students in one-on-one advising appointments and drop-in services, develop and present career education topics to undergraduate and graduate classes, and develop and execute specialized career education initiatives for WCNR students. This half-time position is 20 hours per week and includes prorated, half-time benefits. This is a permanent, 12-month role. Hours may vary during a few select weeks. This person will not work on university observed holidays. This is an in-person position with some remote workdays possible. There will be no relocation assistance for this position |
