Description of Work Unit | The Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands (CEMML) is a research, education and service unit within the Warner College of Natural Resources at Colorado State University (CSU). CEMML applies the latest and most appropriate science to promote the sustainable management of natural and cultural resources on Department of Defense (DoD) and other public lands. We provide technical support, conduct applied research, and offer career development and learning opportunities to support resource stewardship. We collaborate with our sponsors and within CSU to resolve complex environmental issues, leaving a legacy of science-based decisions that sustain our resources for future generations. Position Summary | A Wildlife Biologist position is available at Travis Air Force Base (AFB), California, with Colorado State University and the Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands (CEMML). This is a field and office based position that will assist with the implementation of a variety of projects identified in the Integrated Natural Resources Management Plan (INRMP) for the installation. This position will focus on wildlife surveys, construction monitoring, field data collection, and habitat analysis. The work location is at Travis AFB, Solano County, California. Travis AFB is a United States Air Force Base under the operational control of the Air Mobility Command and is located three miles (5 km) east of the central business district of Fairfield, in Solano County, California, 50 miles northeast of San Francisco and 40 miles southwest of Sacramento. Travis AFB is situated on approximately 5,137 acres and is midway between the coastal zone and the interior valley of California. The primary ecological communities are northern claypan vernal pool and annual grassland, sometimes referred to as vernal pool grasslands. |

Duty/Responsibility | • Execute wildlife surveys and other field inventories based on expertise. • Implement and develop survey protocols specific to the base. • Execute site surveys at construction sites for compliance monitoring and review proposed project sites for natural resources impacts. • Execute projects identified in the Integrated Natural Resources Management Plan. • Use field data collection technology including GPS units and field tablets. • Perform data management and analysis. Perform data QA/QC checks. Implement data management protocols to ensure data quality and data storage. |
