Description of Work Unit
The Department of Clinical Sciences mission is to assure the health and productivity of animals to meet societal needs through high quality educational programs for professional veterinary medical students, graduate veterinarians, and the public through a faculty and veterinary medical center of excellence, and to advance and disseminate comparative biomedical knowledge in an environment of interdisciplinary collaboration.

Position Summary
Seeking a self-motivated, multi-tasking, organized, employee who can demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills. This position works with part of a larger team of faculty, graduate students, staff, and students to ensure all the work is done.Additional opportunities to scrub into animal surgeries will be available once additional experience is obtained.
Position Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be able to repeatedly lift up to 50lbs and push heavy carts.
  • Must be willing to work with various species (sheep, goats, rabbits, mice, and rats), and assist with animal necropsies.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Willing to gain experience in animal handling, specifically with sheep, goats, pigs, rabbits, rats, and mice.
  • Prepping animals for surgery, clipping, catheter placement and blood draws.
  • Implementation of study protocols following Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and IACUC guidelines – training provided.
