Position Summary
The Student Assistant for the Department of Human Dimensions of Natural Resources will assist the department in a variety of day to day tasks, including but not limited to supporting administration, creating materials, assisting with event planning, and tabling/outreach activities.
Position Minimum Qualifications
Ability to communicate effectively with faculty, staff, and students
Time management and organizational skills
Ability to work collaboratively
Familiarity with natural resources and tourism concepts
Proficiency in word processing and Microsoft Excel
Familiarity working in a multicultural setting and/or with international students
Preferred Qualifications
A desire to continuously learn
A solution driven mindset
Dependability
Experience utilizing social media for marketing purposes
Experience in creating promotional content

Essential Job Duties

Duty/Responsibility
Assisting with marketing and recruitment efforts such as tabling events, social media, and other promotional projects.
Support alumni engagement efforts, including but not limited to, organizing and updating departmental data, reaching out to alumni for updated contact information, brainstorming ways to engage alumni, and assisting with planning and facilitating alumni focused events.
Supporting events via staffing, hospitality, facilitation, catering assistance, and more.
Research and assess how HDNR can improve initiatives to increase diversity in outdoor recreation.
Operate basic machines such as the copier, scanner, and printer.
Open and or close the Forestry main office on occasion when help is needed.
Assist in the management of the CLTL and MTM website including story maps, uploading materials, capstone project deliverables, updated program information, etc.
Assist with the graduate program’s major events (symposium, graduate fair, cohort graduation, prospective student visits, etc.)
General administrative and clerical tasks (WCNR Intranet submissions, compiling applications materials, updating files, etc.)
