This is a full-time position working M-F, 8 to 10 hours a day. The days and hours can vary due to business needs. Weekly earned wage access is an option for this position.
Job Purpose or Objective(s): You will oversee small, less complex ranches and implement the diversified operational plans to include employee development, natural resource stewardship, and animal husbandry. You will assist with reporting and provide communication with leadership while focusing on the mission of the Choctaw Nation.
Primary Tasks:
- You will manage a revenue-producing livestock enterprise, enhancing native wildlife habitats and improving the cattle herd value.
- Manage the daily operations of the ranch including working with cattle, basic mechanics of ranch and farm equipment, fencing, road maintenance, windmills, and welding.
- Manage operational plans and budget; forecast performance and financial variance.
- Develop and implement strategic plans to manage existing natural resources including soil fertility, annual/perennial forage supply, cattle husbandry, and wildlife.
- You will maintain, coordinate, support Beef Quality Assurance principles and training.
- Manage plans and implementation of invasive control, pasture planting, and other activities.
- Manage the safety and security of all ranch personnel and assets.
- Develop and implement a herd preventative health program, including weaned calf management.
- Perform other responsibilities as may be assigned.
Job Requirements
- Basic computer and software applications competency (Excel (can maintain complex spreadsheets), Word, and Outlook)
- Understand and appreciation for wildlife management, grazing systems and vegetation modification through mechanical, chemical, and prescribed fire principles
- Knowledgeable with agricultural systems and willingness to put forth effort while performing tasks
- Good record-keeping skills
- Experience with financial accountability, enterprise analysis and budget compliance
- Two (2) years hands-on experience related to diversified cattle management (including cow and calf, backgrounding and stocker enterprises)
