Job Overview
The Material Preparation Operations Specialist is responsible for receiving, staging, and preparing cargo in compliance with U.S. Air Force and international air transport regulations. This role ensures cargo is documented, packaged, secured, and ready for military airlift while maintaining accountability, safety, and mission readiness. The position requires adaptability to fluctuating mission schedules and direct coordination with logistics, transportation, and production teams to ensure mission success.
Essential Functions
• Receive and process cargo from commercial carriers, the Transportation Movement Office (TMO), and internal production facilities.
• Prepare cargo for military air transport using 463L pallets, nets, straps, and other restraint systems per regulation.
• Ensure all cargo passes Joint Inspection (JI) for airworthiness compliance.
• Complete and maintain accurate documentation, including DD Form 1149s, hazardous declarations, and inventory records.
• Manage inventory of preparation materials such as pallets, nets, straps, dunnage, and covers.
• Safely handle and prepare hazardous materials in accordance with IATA, 49 CFR, and military regulations.
• Operate forklifts and material handling equipment for safe and efficient cargo movement.
• Coordinate cargo staging, transportation, and loading with mission partners and airlift personnel.
• Adapt to mission schedules that may occur on weekends, nights, or holidays.
• Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications and Competencies
• Knowledge of air cargo and airlift preparation processes preferred.
• Understanding of military regulations for cargo airworthiness inspections preferred.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and complete regulatory documentation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for tracking and reporting.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Flexibility to work under dynamic mission requirements.
• Ability to pass an annual DMV record check required to ensure compliance with company and regulatory driving standards.
Education / Certifications
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Technical or vocational training a plus.
• Forklift certification or ability to obtain.
Experience
• 0-2 years of logistics or other inventory control related experience required.
• Familiarity with 463L pallet systems and air cargo securing methods preferred.
• Hazardous material handling and documentation experience preferred.

• Ability to operate material handling equipment (MHE), including forklifts.
• Ability to work outdoors and in varying environmental conditions.
Security Clearance
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret DoD Clearance.
• U.S. Citizenship required.
